If you like meat, this is likely the best steakhouse in Seoul. Excellent buffet plus the meat. Plates are about W28,000. Across from the Canadian embassy. Opens for dinner at 7:00 PM.

Quote:
IPA pronunciation: [ʃuxaska'ɾiɐ]) is a Brazilian or Portuguese steakhouse. Churrasco is the cooking style, which translates roughly from the Portuguese for 'barbecue'. However, in order to avoid confusion, it is important to state that in the rest of South America other than Brazil, the 'barbecue' method of cooking meat is known as asado.

Distinctly a South American style rotisserie, it owes its origins to the fireside roasts of the gachos of southern Brazil traditionally from the Pampa region, centuries ago. In modern restaurants, rodizio service is typically offered. Passadors (meat waiters) come to your table with knives and a skewer, on which are speared various kinds of meat, be it beef, pork, filet mignon, lamb, chicken, duck, ham (and pineapple), sausage, fish, or any other sort of local cut of meat.

In most parts of Brazil, the churrasco is roasted with charcoal. In the south of Brazil, however, mostly close to the borders of Argentina and Uruguay, embers of wood are also used.

In the United States some upscale churrascaria chain restaurants such as Fogo de Cho and Texas de Brazil have opened in several states.

Ask, and ye shall receive!

The first pic is the flyer (I didn't see an English one), then front of the English business card, then 3rd is the back of the business card (map).

Finally, in the album description, I gave walking/easy taxi directions.

Christina & I can highly reccomend not just the whole experience, but combining it with ice skating, photo ops (esp. right now, at night; all the holiday lighting is still up), or a Nanta show.

I don't think it is something you would reasonably want to do every week, but a fantastic time, and the more, the merrier.

On a related note, a nice thread here about different Latin~esque dining options:

I'll cut & paste this a few more places - feel free to do the same; no credit required Very Happy

It's also much cheaper if you get there in time for lunch.

They're a pack of stupid fuckheads (unless something has changed). It used to be on weekends that they'd have the whole place booked for the wedding hall across the street. Not even a token area was set aside for regular customers.

Perhaps they've changed then. The last time I was there was around 7 on a Saturday night.

They are still quite stupid though. A friend of mine wanted to book them for his wedding, but for weddings they don't offer the skewers of meat, just the buffet. I mean, why?

Try Brasilia in Gangnam, with branches right by Seolleung and Samsung stations.

The staff there took a long time to get me more meat. As the night wore on they began to ignore my requests; i was forced to persist in my requests before receiving any meat.

The meat was quite good but i haven't been back since due to the poor service.

meats good(v.salty tho)
... but the K owner is rude, unhelpful and the s.american waiters do drag the service if you eat too much.

THE NON-MEAT BUFFET IS SUB STANDARD given the cost, designed to fill you up before the star of the show, imho.

I used to eat there a lot in 2002/3 but haven't managed to secure a table recently on random "walk-ins"

so book ahead

Yip, from what I've heard Ipanema has dropped the ball with service. If you want no frills, unlimited steaks Brasilia is the place to go.

It is about as Brazilian as Outback is Australian but at least you'll have your fill of beef for 25 bucks.

okay, originally this was just to post up directions; let me give a mini-review of our exp. there on Sat -

Let me also note, in advance, the first time we went was with a large Brazilian/Portuguese/European group, and the restaurant took extremely good care of us - long, lazy meal, with lots to eat & drink. I would attribute a good part of that to our friends already knowing the passadors there.

We arrived without too much difficulty on Sat. evening, around 8:30 pm. There were maybe 30 other customers scattered around the place - no big groups.

The maitre'd/host (could have been the owner, but unsure) DID give a slight frown when we walked in - looking at his watch - but set us without delay. C popped off to the bathroom; we ordered a chilean cab sav (40k) that was great for C & myself, and a little on the dryish side for Paul's tastes.

We then proceeded with small salad plates, and close to the time we finished, the first of the passadors came around. C's attention/focus was only upon the rarest beef she could get, and later on the pineapple (which wasn't on the menu the first time we went).

Every few minutes, another passador would make a round, with either 1-2 skewers. They were polote/friendly with us (although C *is* pretty, and the passadors there do tend to be flirty, and we both speak Spanish & a smat of Portuguese.

Off the top of my head, I can remember sausage, chicken, beef, pineapple, turkey, lamb (which was a tad dry, but there was a Portuguese mint sauce on the buffet), a garlic beef, either ox or cow tongue (which I like myself), chicken livers, pork, beef, and lamb ribs. All 3 of us really enjoyed it, and 0 problems with service on our end. By the time someone came to tell us that the salad bar was going to close soon (but we could continue to have espetos as long as we wanted), we were already full.

So, don't know what to tell you - food was great, service was fine for us. I do think that the salad/sides buffet slipped a little from our first time, and C & I would agree about the Korean 'overseer,' whoever he was.

If you are sitting on the fence about it, I would suggest going at lunchtime, and pref. with a few friends. It is a shame that they do not offer the espetos for large functions, but I can sort of see the problems with 200-400 people and their current staff/cooking facilities.

Regards,

G. (and C.)

Went there a few weeks back. I thought it was poor. The meat is OK at best. The way it's cooked gives it all a similar taste. The buffet is appalling. Poor selection and poor quality. The whole place (food included) needed a revamp.
On the giant tv screen, was a poor quality video of the Rio Carnival. A strange amount of time was devoted to topless women. I'm all for topless Brazilian women, but this was not the time or place

I had the same experience, so I haven't been back there since. Have they changed this stupid practice?

Brasilia's Seollung branch is right by the subway. Just get outside to see the sign.

Its right next to Kumkang. Walk to the side of the building on Kumkang and you'll see it of the opposite side of the alley/sidestreet.

Also, you can bring your own wine and pay 10,000won corking fee. The Korean worker I talked to spoke VERY good English. He's either Gyopo and has spent considerable time overseas.

i've been there a few times and have loved the bbqd meat but disliked the lazy service.

i was talking to one of the waiters/passadors there and apparently they get to eat whatver is leftover at the end of night. their hourly wage there sucks so the waiters trying to conserve the meat towards the end of the night so that they can have their share of bbqd meat.

just get there early and you should be alright.
