Forget it and move on to the next offer. |

Hmmm, 2.3/month and no apartment. With housing, that would be a pretty good wage, but with no housing your pay will be around 1.7.
-2.3 million-taxes=2.2million*(give or take)
-2.2 million-500K rent**(avg.)=1.7 million
*Based on a 3%, or 4% tax rate
**This is assuming you come up with the 3 to 5 million deposit on the apartment.
In the end, the choice is yours.
Good luck. |

You don't live here do you? I've been sqwaking about my last employer that had a similar business plan. Immigration said they were "illegal" and that That's be great if you got one of those deals. You could really stiff them and split. |

Do yourself a BIG a favor and move on...forget this school. Let another sucker go for it. And someone will sign the contract. The director won't let you talk to the current teachers...unless you sign!?! Walk away. Better schools and jobs out there. |

There are lots and lots of vacancies. Look for another job. Obviously the current teacher is not going to refer the school. If he/she does, it will because you already signed the contract and they are worried about repercusions like getting stiffed on severance pay or no return airfare (maybe even a bad reference ). |

Has anyone actually worked for this company. I have also been talking to them about a job. Same hours but the salary is 2.1 plus a 400k housing allowance. Comes out to 2.5 for only 20 hours a week teaching and 5 hours prep time. Sounds pretty good to me. Now I asked to talk to one of his current teachers and he put me on the phone with some guy. He told me he was a preacher and a professor and that I could trust Jeffrey(the guy who runs the program) to do what he said. Now I don't know who this guy was but he was most definitely not a teacher working for Jeffrey. So this got me to thinking and I did a search for Charmedu and found these and some other posts. I am starting to have second thoughts. So I was hoping that someone who has actually worked for this fella can tell us what is really going on. |

Rule #1. They lie
Rule #2. They will tell you whatever it takes to get you here.
Rule #3. If it sounds too good to be true it usually is.
Rule #4. If they wont let you talk to teachers there is a reason for it...move on and look elsewhere.
Rule #5. They lie |

That's great Grotto, thank you. But what I was hoping for is someone who has actually worked there. I have lived in Korea for some time now and I know how people can be. I also know that the teachers on this board can exaggerate. It's worth taking a chance for the low hours. If its not legit I will walk. Does someone who has worked for them before have some info on the work conditions. Right now all we know is that they seem to be acting shady about talking to current teachers. |

Move on... it is a typical hakwon - subcontracting you for an afterschool program. More than 1/2 are scams and the teachers get burned.
And the rate of 2.3mil with NO housing is LESS than a typical hakwon.
MOVE ON. |

The salary that is offered in my case is 2.5. With less hours than almost any other job that I have seen. Once again I am asking if anyone has direct experience with this company. |

It is a hakwan that is subcontracting you out for afterschool programs.
They do NOT have a foreign teacher for you to talk to.
You are in Korea. Take a trip down to their office and have a look.
I would guess that there are NO FOREIGN TEACHERS working for them yet. |
