I am applying for GEPIK and I filled out the application form and have all the documents. So my recruiter told me to FEDEX all the documents and application over to them (I already have a work visa F-4). What I'm not sure about is when to sign the contract....and there are like...5 places to sign on the contract/application. Do I have to sign it now or can I sign it when I get to Korea? (Since I haven't been officially hired yet...as in no start date...no school, etc) ...Now that I think about it...I better not sign it, right? Haha I guess I'm setting myself up for this one...
Well, if I'm wrong or misunderstanding something, then please correct me.
I'm applying for a late march/april position....if anybody knows anything about applying for this time slot with GEPIK, I would appreciate any advice or suggestions. THanks! |

I was told by my recruiter to print out three copies and sign them to send with my application/paperwork.
I did.
So far, my job is supposed to be "secured" until I get placed. |

That is also what I was told by my recruiter but I wonder because there are no specific starting dates, salary, class/grade to be taught and information about the school I will be assigned to. So if I sign it...then will I be bound to whatever they decide for me before I arrive in Korea? |

If you are doing GEPIK you may not know what you are teaching or where until you get there. You SHOULD know how much you are getting paid and when the start/end dates of your contract are. Make them put it in before you sign. The contract is mostly for getting your visa, but always good to know for sure.
Good luck and I hope you enjoy it! |

My contract didn't have the school/location on it, but I was assured by my recruiter that I would be place in Goyang City/Ilsan area. The starting and ending dates were on there, but she told me to go ahead and put my level and pay on there when I signed them or she would put that in when she received them. I opted to put them in myself.
Since GEPIK does assignments, the locations won't be selected until February (from what I was told). There is no way to know exactly where we will be placed until then. (However, I have read that some recruiters hire for specific public schools but I haven't looked for any...)
Hope that helps! |
