The Right Attitude
Quote: |
Barack Obama talks about getting roughed up by Hillary and Bill Clinton: "This is good practice for me so, you know, when I take on these Republicans I'll be accustomed to it."
I have no idea if he genuinely means that, but it's true either way. Given Bill's status as an ex-president and party figure, I do wish that he, personally, were not so involved as an anti-Obama surrogate, but I think it's good for the rival campaigns to really go after one another. It's politics, and people who want to succeed in it need the practice. |

Someone posted this link:
LA Times
It pretty much sums up what's worrisome Kuros:

Something strange happened the other day. All these different people -- friends, co-workers, relatives, people on a liberal e-mail list I read -- kept saying the same thing: They've suddenly developed a disdain for Bill and Hillary Clinton. Maybe this is just a coincidence, but I think we've reached an irrevocable turning point in liberal opinion of the Clintons. |
Sure, those liberals will still stick with Clinton if she wins the nomination, just by default, but everyone else? Good luck. |

You have to take into account that newsmakers function as exactly that: newsmakers. There is no reliable way to tell when they are reporting opinion passively or actively cultivating the opinion they want their readers to develop.
Especially in an election year. |

Obama needs to be attacked so he can develop quick, effective responses that work in sound bytes on network TV. I wish that were not true, but it is. He's already proved he can inspire. Watching him speak, it is clear he is smart. What we don't know is if he can also project strength, determination and doggedness.
I'm dubious about people's complaints about insubstantial accusations of the Clintons being arrogant. Every time I read that comment, I wonder, "Just how deep was their support in the first place?...It sounds like they were looking for something negative to say...Another ad hominem attack."
In one of the links there was a comment about politics being a ritualized substitute for beheading and killing rivals for power. It's rather true. |
