Does anybody got good pictures of this area because the ones I see are less than impressive.
What are some fun things to do in this area? |

i lived there for a year and found it to be fine.
its got the ttuksum resort area on the river, with the river path, swimming pool, rock-climbing wall, basket ball courts, and windsurfing.
other than that, the konguk area has a very lively college nighlife area, an e-mart and cinema.
there is the children's grand park with its zoo.
and there is achasan for hiking and serious dh mtb.
it is about a half and hour from itaewon for good food
and just across the river from jamsil and apgujung.
overall, its not too bad.
probably better variety than almost anywhere. |

You seem to have been asking about a few areas of Seoul on this board lately.
In my opinion asking about a whole gu is a little too broad. Each gu has 200,000 to 600,000 or so people in it, so within each gu are lots of different neighborhoods.
You could be in a convenient neighborhood well served by public transport with good access to food/hobbies/nature/entertainment, or you could end up in a back alley on top of a hill. |

some areas are quite convenient, like sub talked about, but as samd said, there are many different types of areas in the same gu. my parents-in-law live in gwangjin-gu, in noyu-dong, and it's the most depressing place i've ever been in my life. it's run down and dark and far from the station. guess it depends on what dong you're talking about! |

As other posters said, it depends on WHERE you live in that gu. Considering it covers a large area, if you lived say next to the Dong Seoul Bus Terminal, you might find the air is horrible. If you lived next to TechnoMart, you might find the traffic is nuts, but subway convenient. The Konkuk University area has improved a hell of a lot in the past 10 years.
I lived in Kwangjin-Gu for two years and used to hang out at the Konkuk University area because it had the best food and cafes in the Gu...now it has an emart, movie theater and other stuff that is very useful. |
