can someone please clarify all the TESOL certifications that are out there?

I thought I had finally settled on one - at the TEFL insitute
see the link here:

http://www.teflinstitute.com/thailand2.php

now I'm reading the Trinity Tesol is the best one to have - I want one that's globally recognized, am not worried about the extra bucks just want to have one that's legit

btw I want to be able to use it back in the U.S. when I finally make my way back there.

should I just scrap all this and go for a Cambridge CELTA instead maybe?

It all depends if you want a certificate or a diploma. The one month CELTA/ DELTA is universally recognized, but the program (distance diploma in TESOL) I am presently enrolled in at Vancouver Community College leads directly to TESOL teaching certification in North America.

It consists of courses in methodologies, teaching listening/speaking, teaching reading/writing, grammar, pronunciation and a 25 hour practicum. I hope this helps, and good luck with whatever you choose.

I'm aware the CELTA is universally recognized because it's generally a Cambridge-run program people enroll in.

However, there are various different programs it seems for the TESOL, even tho they mostly seem to be the 4-5 week programs with the +100 hours involved.

I want to know if one is better than the other, or more widely accepted. That is, does it HAVE to be the Trinity Tesol in order to have the best chance of use in countries other than the one I take the program in?
