I feel like this topic must be out there somewhere, but I have spent the past hour searching posts and have yet to find anything. If someone does know where this topic is, and can simply link me up, that would also be cool.

Basically, I was wondering if there are any editing jobs around. It may sound weird, but I actually really enjoy editing, and was hoping to pick up some side work. Ideally, it would be possible to do it as a full-time gig, but I realize the near-impossibility of that being an option.

Anyway, if anyone has information on where to look for such jobs/if they even exist, it would be much appreciated.

Most editing jobs are word of mouth. You know someone who knows someone. Make friends with Koreans. Make friends with Koreans in business. Over all, make friends with Korean translators.

Yeah, that's what I figured. I have talked to my Korean friends about it and am hoping something will kind of come along. I would like to be more pro-active about it, but that seems rather difficult. Some of my friends do a bit of translating, and I've let them know I'm interested in doing some editing, but mostly companies and such simply want basic translators. Understandably so, although imagine a Korea with properly-translated and worded English. Yeah, my mind was just blown too.

Try to make connections with people who have connections with:
    teacher-training programs
    university student English-language publications
    government offices

That's where I see most editing jobs coming from.

Don't forget, the Korea Times and Korea Herald are always looking for sub editors.

The pay is rubbish, as are the working hours- but that's newspapers for you.

Editing jobs come to you via contacts.

Many of the jobs are a waste of time and amount to defacto Ghost Authorship of a book, essay, etc.

Thus, be very careful about taking on editing gigs.
