I'm looking to offload about 10-15 books before I leave Korea and was wondering if there are any bookstores in Seoul that would take them off my hands for a few won. They are all mostly non-fiction and in good condition. A friend of mine mentioned that What the Book in Itaewon might pay for them, can anyone confirm this?
I'm not looking for a book exchange, just want to get rid of them for a bit of cash if possible.

Cheers!

What the Book will buy them from you but prepared that what they are willing to pay you for them is absurdly low. Also, if they are popular books, be prepared for the price to be even lower if they have a lot in stock.

But, I guess it's better than just leaving them in your apt!

Was at 'What the Book' the other day and there was a sign about books they were not currently accepting. Sure there was something about non fiction. Didn't take too much notice as I generally leave my used books at The Wolfhound in Itaewon.

What the book or Abbys will take them off your hands, though you won't get much for them in cash, usually a little more in store credit, if you want something to read for the flight home

Alternatively, if they're any good, book-starved booklovers like myself might want 'em.

Wait, what? Isn't Abby's long gone? Does it still exist somewhere else? Huh?

If you work at a public school, you might want to consider donating your books to the library. I am leaving behind about 30 books (fiction, non-fiction, some english language Korean history). I am taking about 20 with me; don't think there will be too many kids reaching for Melville. Wink

Yep, Abby's Book Nook is long gone and the space it used to occupy remains empty.

Thanks for the replies. Feel free to send me a PM if you want to know what books I'm looking to offload and maybe we can make a deal. Couple of Korean Language study books among the pile too.

Cheers!
