Do any of you guys (and girls) do any gardening while living in Korea? I grew up on a 103 acre farm since birth and have always been growing some fruit or vegetable. Just got curious if anyone grows a tomato or any herbs or spices (granted they have a patio or decent sunlight). I'm going to be teaching in Gangjin and hope to have a garden going at some time.

Any green thumbs out there?

Down there people generally don't garden, they farm. But people with houses often have a little plot to grow their favorites. If you end up with your own cottage it should be easy enough. Likewise, if you're in an apartment you can always grow a few things on the roof. Everyone else does.

You can buy all you need at the market in the center of town. Somebody can help you out once you get there.

Thanks! I've been reading that the whole area in and around Gangjin is very agriculturally oriented! I find gardening is a way of relaxing and de-stressing, sounds like I may need it while in the career of an ESL teacher.

I've been hearing good things about the (farmers?) markets as well and the variety of food to choose from! Can't wait!
