I would like to thank the posters above for their informative responses to my enquiry. It's information-packed responses like these that make this board so rewarding. The time, consideration and insight that goes into such responses is really touching. |

The only way to lose weight is to create a calorie deficit, which means you use more than you take in. That's all there is to it. There's no magic and you can't find it in a pill. Start slowly increasing the amount or intensity of your exerise and decreasing, or cleaning up, your caloric intake. It will help if you keep a log of both your exercise and diet. Two weeks should give you a good baseline. Best of luck. |

I hear that a side effect of crystal meth is substantial weight loss.
You're welcome. |

Actually, some weight loss pills do work. I tried Reductil for a year, over here, and I lost 20 kilos. They make you feel full faster, kinda like a shut off switch. They also help you with hunger cravings. I didn't feel hungry as often, so I could make better choices than when i was starving. They are expensive...about 120,000 won a month, but they work like a hot damn.
There were few side effects: I had a slight irregular heartbeat (too fast sometimes), but that went away after a few weeks. They monitor you for high blood pressure, but mine was normal. My friend got contsipated, but she had just gone on a wacky purge, and the possible drug reactions as well as her messed up system might have affected the results.
I have kept the weight off for 6 months and have no problem maintaining this level, so the big fear of "what will happen when I stop taking them" never materialized. I would really recommend them to anyone who needs to lose weight. They were a lifesaver for me. |

I don't think Peemil's intention was sarcasm. It happens to be true. I tried different kinds of diets (low-carb, low fat,,,whatever) without success. I found exercising wasn't doing a whole lot either. Once I really cut back on the amount (volume) of food I ate, I've really noticed my waistline going down. You may feel hungry quite often at first but, believe it or not, you get used to it. I guess a lot of these diet pills help with hunger pains, but I would be too paranoid of side effects. Going a lot less is not as hard as it seems. |

Moptop, thank you for relating your experience. I'm definitely considering such a pill.
As for select other posters. Honestly, I know many of us are bored sitting at work and is very tempting to respond to each and every posting, even if we have nothing to offer. But let's try to control our impulses. If you've mastered the ability to "stop eating" then surely you have the ability to "stop posting" when you've nothing to say.
I really enjoy this site, but my biggest grievance is posts that are devoid of content, and which are annoying to read. (Oops, just had a thought. I'd better stop writing before this one becomes annoying too.)
Anyway, any orther experiences, positive or negative, would be appreciated.
Cheers |

Pills can be effective, but in general they're just not a healthy substitute for watching what you eat and getting regular exercise 3-4 times a week. |
