I'm interested in going to Japan over the May 5th bank holiday weekend and I'd like to go there by ferry. What are my chances of doing this? Also someone advise me about the best way to book a ticket? |

If I were you I'd wait until the following weekend in May. It is also a long weekend. May 5th is Golden Week, and many things may be closed. |

Princess, really? I'm thinking about going there for the full week of May 5. Would I be highly affected? |

Yes, most things will be closed. I just got word that if I go on the 10th and come back on the 12th it will be 480,000 won. My flight leaves the 10th at 1 something in the afternoon and comes back on the 12th at 9:55 in the morning. I am beginning to think it won'tbe worth it, what with the airport bus taking 2 hours to get from the airport into Tokyo. I'd have to be up and at 'em on the 12th at 5 in the morning just to get back to Tokyo's airport. Flights from Incheon to japan and back are usually at set weird times. I think I'll just stay in Korea for both of May's long weekends and do something...too bad... Vacation times are always at the worst times. |

Reserved my ticket yesterday..So its prob not too late yet!!
600,000 for the first weekend of May..
Its not too late and dont believe this talk about it being a bad time to go to Japan during Golden Week..I heard the opposite on the Japanese Forum..and they will know best..
It helps of course that my accom will be just about free..(Staying with friends there) Maybe that is the difference. Anyway Im getting excited that Im going to Tokyo.. Yipee!! |

honestly, this may doesn't have much of a "golden week".
it's more like, of the 4 holidays that they have lined up, 2 are on a weekend and the other two are on a monday and tuesday.
if you want to come to japan via ferry, i guess there are a few slow (14hrs) ones that leave out of pusan.
there's also the JR beetle that has trips between pusan and fukuoka (hakata).
i think it takes about 4 hours each way.

looks like it's 16,000yen round trip, which is about $160usd. |
