Yes, winter camp and the two classes a day and finishing at 12pm is over.

Back to a school crawling with a thousand energetic students yelping, screaming, fighting and running around...

Back to trying not to go out of my office as much as possible to avoid the calls of

Hey yo man!

Oh hi!

Are you crazy man!

etc...

Was good whilst it lasted

Plus I also had my head shaved so yesterday in 4th grade class one student shouted out

"Oh ha ha ha - you LUKEMIA! ha ha ha...."

Whereupon all the rest of the studens said "LUKEMIA!" and burst out laughing.

I hope that idiot enjoyed his 30 minute stay out in the freezing corridor minus his jacket.

Sigh.

Ah well, at least I'm not at a hakwan.

Should have made him come out to the front and spell it. Embarassed

Try stating that this will be your semester, as you will be dead by the next one. Seeing your saddened face will get sympathy from the class and they will make the boys life miserable. Laughing

ps- We do 4 hours of camp a day, then home. It was fun this time for me too. No office here, just sitting in the class and kids are free to come and go as they please. Good for increasing your patience levels.

They made me stay till 3pm. I left earlier everyday until it was 2ish.

Don't you get Spring break?

I still have another 2 weeks of camp mid Feb. After the break.

I can't watch Ratatouille again....

I did 16 days of 9.30 - 12.30

They are going to try and set up a spring camp for the last two weeks of feb also. It will only be until 12.30 again, so not too bad. I did think I might have had the two weeks off though and was getting excited.

Still, if I do the camp they let me go home when I finish at 12.30pm, so I can't complain, it could be worse... Kids are kind of fun too, really get into the spirit of it and make a big effort, so I'm lucky they're good kids too.

Lucky...they're making me stay and 'earn my pay' on youtube, twiddling my thumbs....at least it isn't until 4:40. I know one guy who got nonstop camp from 9-4:40 every single day.

One day during the current winter camp a Korean teacher suggested to me I should leave at 12.20pm.

I was under the impression I have to stay until 4.40pm, so without any encouragement from me, the Korean teacher said she'd ask the VP to check if it would be ok for me to leave early.

He told her I had to stay until 4.40pm because of my contract.

I'm sitting here online in a warm room, but I'm doing nothing.

In fact, I could quite easily slip out early every day (as long as I put my shoes on quick enough to avoid meeting the VP or P in the foyer).

But because my co-teacher (on many occasions) and VP have both now said I must stay until 4.40pm, I'm not going to chance going early.

It's relaxing in the afternoon, peace and quiet, but very pointless.

you all are very lucky (except the guy who does non-stop camp til 4:30, that is!), i work 8:30-4:30 EVERY SINGLE day, camp or no camp, doesn't matter. plus since the heater is broken in the office i share, i'm in my coat, gloves, scarf and hood, but i'm still visibly shaking from the cold.

61 days, just 61 days....

That's highly unacceptable for having you stay in a cold office.

You should start burning some chairs and desks to create some heat in your office.

Refuse to go in. Are you alone in the office there? Seems pretty unacceptable for the heater to be broken so long.

Sixteen more days to go - and counting.

During 'vacation', I've got to sit in my prison (classroom with bars on the windows/doors) everyday - playing on the internet from 8.30am - 1.45pm. And the security guard checks me in every morning - to see that I'm on time.

Thanks guys - I know it's all about payback for me calling you on the child abuse thing (sorry, should that be student discipline?).

But I had my revenge. I have the classroom heated to 30 deg C - and it's warm - toasty warm. So warm in fact - that some poor 'science camp' students studied in my room for 2 days - because the rest of the school was literally freezing.

But I got rid of them as they weren't comfortable seeing their 'teacher' dressed in a ski jacket, Eskimo hat, and full scarf. I also asked them awkward questions in front of their teacher, "Why are you studying in the vacation etc?" "Why aren't you out playing in the snow - having fun?" Ha - they've never been back. It's lovely and quiet now. Sixteen more days to freedom.

my school's undergoing a major renovation and they replaced the old heaters too. anyways, the construction boys decided to turn off the gas for the new ones since they're still working on and off in the office. 2 teachers tried to get it switched on for me, but nope. Shocked i've actually taken a couple sick days off because of this...just got too cold.
