Anyone do an after-school program? It looks like they pay quite well, and it's a blocked shift. It looks good on paper. Do you make your own curriculum? What's the real deal? |

The after school programs are basically a franchised hogwan chain that has an agreement with the public school to teach their students.
In short, it is a hogwan inside a public school. I've heard good and bad things about the after school programs. I've been presented with after school contracts in the past and always turned them down because I am worried about having my visa linked to a company rather than the actual school. |

Make sure its added to your ARC if you are already working at a hagwon. How much are they paying? Is it your main job? |

I have a job now, but just in case my contract isn't renewed (I've been here 3 years, and they don't hire foreigners full time at my company- damned 3 year rule!), I'm looking into other jobs.
The after school jobs are taught at an elementary school, right? Do you have to follow the contracted hakwon's curriculum, then? Why is it they don't have to pay pension? |

I had an after school job at a high school. I worked 6pm to 9pm, m-f and made 50,000 per hour. I worked directly for the school with no hagwon or other middleman involved. I had complete control over what and how to teach. It was a great job, but we moved . |
