(I'm not spoofing Hyeon Een's thread- I just keep forgetting to ask this question) I want to buy one (because I'm sick of spending bank at Baskin Robbins), but I seriously wonder if they are available in Korea (even though my husband claims everything that is available in the US is available here......).

Anyone have one? Anyone ever have one back home, and if so, was it useful, or a pain in the butt (like my juicer.....)?

I am surprised that you didn't get your hubby to find for you Wink

Happy Ice-cream making!

Hey, I don't have an ice cream maker, yet I've made ice cream here successfully. PM me if you want some recipes. They're really yummy, and very easy to make. You absolutely don't need an ice cream maker for them.

Actually, the best ones I've had are pulled from Ice Cream Ireland (icecreamireland.com). Good stuff.

Anyway, I'm not a fan of ice cream in general, but I really like these. In fact, I have some cinnamon ice cream in my freezer right now. Mmm.

The main trick is to stir it every few hours or so so that it doesn't crystallize on you.

I have also thought about this. Sadly I dont think much money could be saved over Baskins considering the price of milk and cream in Korea these days. But it would still be cool to make your own.

Costco had loads of cuisine art ice cream makers this past summer.

I bought one...and let me tell you--what a WASTE of space! Sure, it saves a few bucks here and there, but unless you have a lot of extra time on your hands--this won't be a big help.

You've also got to have a pretty big freezer because you have to freeze the container for a few days beforehand.

I'll definatlely let mine go for a steal...

Why does it take a lot of time? I looked at the machines last night (thanks, tze!), and it looks like you just press the on button and it's done 20-30 min later. I'm leaning toward the cheap ones that you just stick in the freezer, though, because I have a typical apt. (no extra space in the kitchen...). One guy said something about the ice cream sticking to the side of the drum and it was hard, but still soft in the middle. Someone else said the cuisinart isn't cold enough and you have to put it in the freezer anyway.

littlelisa, I'd appreciate the recipe for the cinnamon ice cream if it's no trouble! I LOVE cinnamon ice cream, which isn't a Baskin Robbins flavor, incidentally (there are so many flavors I like that BR doesn't have- coconut, peppermint stick, etc....... And they have so many flavors I despise. Green tea? Ew. Red bean? No thanks. Plain yogurt? *gag*). I don't like having to churn it every couple of hours, which is why I'm interested in buying an ice cream maker....

Anybody know anyone who is working/ has worked at the Ben and Jerry's factory? I need the recipe for peanut butter cup. Mr. Green
