I'm f!@#$%^ pissed! The cable provider in Daejeon just dropped CNN! Un f!@#$ing believable! Just before the U.S. primaries, election year, Korea's new president pushing English, and the cable company decides to drop the one English language news channel. My wife called the cable company and they said it is a permanent thing, this year at least.

M!@#$%f!@#$% Cable company!

down here we've never had it. no english news at all. heck, the only english programming i've seen is csi and other US based "people are evil trust the gov't to save you" dramas.

kinda funny, the nation spends billions on english but it barely even registers a blip on the telly. you would think they have at least bilingual news programs.

You are better off...CNN is shite.
I have only 4 channels, KBS, MBC, SBS and EBS. I used to have about 70 but couldn't see the point.

Anything i want to watch can be seen on the net easily.

If you really need CNN then just go to their website and you can select any stories you want to watch for free.

CNN is just as bad as FOX, except it's not from the Diehard kill the terrorists point of view.

I agree, you're better off without it.

yeah I was annoyed I lost CNN when I moved to itaewon. Got discovery instead.

anyway I think Arirang has BBC in the mornings if thats any help.

you could also change cable providers or upgrade your package to get the 15-30 or so extra channels during the election process. Maybe one of them is a news channel.....

The internet (or World Wide Web) was both a military initiative and one in the scientific community born in the 1950s. In the 1980s it was revitalized by certain individuals in the scientific community and became a civilian communication network in the early 1990s, when it began to take off and gain popularity. Now, the internet is the most accessible communications medium in the world used by more than a billion people simultaneously in every country on earth.

The great thing about the internet is that there is a universal wealth of information available to you, and since you obviously have access to this "internet" thing, maybe you should take advantage of the fact that most news agencies (CNN included: why you choose them I don't understand) upload all of their integral video/audio content onto their webserver which is accessible by any person wishing to do so, at any time of day or night.

Considering you want to access the events surrounding the political climate in the US because of the upcoming election, you could also take a look at the millions of blogs and websites dedicated to watching the election process unfold one miniscule step at a time (some of which are far more unbiased than CNN).

Or, if you really want to do the smart thing, you can just sit there with your fingers crossed and hope Obama wins.

I agree that cnn is crap and use it mainly for background noise but it was the only news channel I had. Fox news makes me embarassed to come from America.

Leave fox alone! Where else can I watch two hour long docu-faux-news-dramas about sharks eating people.

"Next on Fox... Fast animals, Slow children!"
[Fat kid #1] "Guysssss.... where you goin'? Guysssss... wait for me! Oh no, I dropped my lunch box!"

[Fat kid #1] *Bent over, picking up cookies*
[Tiger] *Gaining speed, making growling sounds*
[Fat kid #1] "Ah! There's my muffin. Guyssssss! Wait up! Guyssssss!"

Anyway.

Lots of cable providers moved it up to a premium package. I guess the government would allow a increase in cable fees so this is their way of getting more money out of consumers.

Hey, calm down, people. The original poster is in DAEJEON, but other regions do still get CNN, including Mapo-gu, Seoul, where I live. I have to agree and say it's crap, however, and I wish Fox News Channel was available in Korea.
