This hagwon is in Daechi and I'm considering signing with them, but it's a new school and I know there can be problems with new schools.

I thought I'd follow up on this for anyone in line to be fooled by this place.

First, I spoke with the Vice Director. I asked her to describe the school, its mission statement and goals for the students. She said, "I can't really describe. Ask the recruiter; I'm only the Vice Director." Only the Vice Director?

That was a few weeks ago. The other day, I get an email from the recruiter that says, "Congratulations, the Institute in Daechi has just decided to hire you." I replied with, "I have not been interviewed by any school in Daechi, nor do I know to which institute you are referring. I'm thrilled that someone has expressed an interest in me, but to hire me before even asking me if I'm interested is a bit presumptuous." After a few vague emails, he tells me it's Ubiquitous. Now, I would remember a terrible name like that, but the reason I didn't is that the Vice Director called it "UB" and the recruiter in an email called it (get this) "UB Quarts."

I ended up speaking with another person at Ubiquitous and when I asked if I might be able to speak with a foreign teacher who has made the trip over, she got very defensive and said I should ask her all of my questions. The conversation ended about there and later I get this email:

We are so sorry to inform you that after your short conversation with one of the teachers of the Institution located in Daechidong, Kangnam, Seoul City, they have decided not to hire you anymore.

Just like that, I was hired and fired without ever knowing what hit me. Boo hoo. Anyway guys, I would be very careful with this one.
