has anyone ever noticed the staggering army of retired u.s.s enterprise commanders roaming the streets of seoul? check out becapped korean grandfathers in your neighbourhood, and i bet u'll see that a massive proportion of them are sporting caps that are unremarkable other than being embossed with "U.S.S. ENTERPRISE commanding officer". has anybody else noticed this??

well what i wanna know is WHY?

where do they come from? why are the oldmates wearing them? do they know what star trek is?

my theory is that there was a massive star trek convention planned in the heartland of america some day, and that these caps were to be given away at the door. then the organiser suddenly realised how crap the movies and shows are and pulled the plug on the whole thing, then dumped the thousands of caps onto the korean market at a basement price. they seem like quite warm caps, so the old codgers lapped them up like so much warm milk.

anybody else got any theories that are a bit more interesting than mine?

Y'know the USS Enterprise has been a name given to a long line of US Navy ships? Real ships. Star Trek took the name from real ships.

The present one is a huge aircraft carrier.

It's old man-style! Park Chung Hee was often seen in an army-style baseball cap.

definitely! maybe it's not as boring as i thought. altho i still think my former theory of them all being major trekkies is funnier...

now i hope u won't tell me that there's another american ship called "F.CK THE CLOCK" and thus ruin all my fun conjectures concerning a shirt i saw an ajumma wear....
