I am looking for a West Highland White Terrier puppy. I already looked at the pet shops lined up at Chungmuro in central Seoul, but to no avail. anyone know?

They are more difficult to find here in Korea. However, I may have seen one at the Daejeon shelter. Don't know if it is still there. If you are looking for a dog, please don't support any of those shops in Chumgmuro, as they are all puppy mill shops, and many of the dogs there are very unhealthy, due to all the crap that happens at puppy mills. If you need pet supplies or a pet, support the animal rights groups and vets that do not sell dogs as their main source of income. They truly care about animals, and not their pocketbooks. and please...please...

be committed to having a pet for the long term. Dogs live up to 17 years! Are you planning on traveling around a lot in the future? Consider the responsibility carefully. A dog needs a stable home.

Sorry to preach, but I see so many people here who have made bad decisions about getting a pet. Now they are trying and begging to give it away to someone. They're not bad people...just didn't consider the decision carefully.

yes. Thanks Hanguker. As a person involved in animal welfare groups here in korea and back at home, I see this all the time. I can't even count how many fosters I have had because someone didn't realize the full responsibility of an animal. Also, sorry to preach, but something i am passionate about. Smile I have posted many adoption posts here of dogs that I have fostered, either from abused homes, abandoned, or just given up by people who didn't want a long term family member, but rather a playmate to give up on in a year. Please consider all these thoughts.

Westies are incredible dogs, you won't be sorry you got him/her. Best of luck to you, we're going to get one when we return home.

OP, you might already be aware of this... but just in case:

Westies run somewhere in the neighborhood of 800-1200 USD back home, so you can probably almost double that price here in the ROK.

Still a wise investment, excellent breed.

Would you really buy one here? Yikes. Anyhoo, mine (in Canada) was Cdn. $900 about 8 years ago. Had two, and a Scottie. Awesome dogs. I seem to remember being quoted about W3,000,000 for a Westie at a store in Bundang about 5 years ago.
