Hey guys,
I'm in a bit of a rut. My friend is flying out of Korea on Saturday and she wanted to buy one of those low Korean style tables. Last week there was a guy selling nice ones out of a truck, but he's long gone now.
We went to E-mart and Homeplus looking for them, but they're all just plain looking and more expensive.
Is there a market anywhere that someone knows of where they sell these tables? I don't remember seeing anything like this in Namdaemun, and these guys that sell them from trucks move every few days... |

I bought one I liked very much for 12,000 won a few years ago in Homeplus or maybe Carrefour, I forget.
Apart from that, most cities will have a district full of little table shops. Ask a (korean) co-worker where the Korean table shop district is and you should find them.. if you're in a smaller city the 'district' might be, like 3 shops though. At a guess from my extensive knowledge of Korean geography, it will be on the edge of downtown though. And when I say downtown I mean the OLD downtown, not the new one (most towns have both). The old downtown will probably be called jung-ang-dong. So look for a place on the edge of the market in jung-ang-dong (any town in Korea that isn't Seoul or Busan or massive).
If you're in Seoul.. I have no idea. Sorry. |

| I don't know about nice ones. The cheesy ones with folding legs cost between 8000-30000. I have them at my local Emart in Seolleung. There's also cheaper ones from the local market vendor a block away. Have you asked around for your local used furnature store? Stuff is usually really cheap there. |

| I don't know where your friend is headed but I live in Vancouver, Canada and I bought a nice one for just under a hundred dollars at a Korean Market in my neighbourhood. I am sure they can be found in most larger cities in the USA and Canada. |
