|
|
To all of you who are working in S. Korea, or anyone who knows anything about this.
Last year I was looking into summer programs, usually 3 to 6 weeks. I found two in Korea, but buy the time I email them in march, they were already filled. Now I'm looking for next summer, and so far haven't found anything for Korea. Does anybody know of any programs like this? thanks in advance for your help, I hope I can make it to Korea this year.

summer or winter camp positions are generally open until the camp starts; even then a lot of them have trouble finding FTs
just wait until they are posted - no one is going to hire you this soon - K doesn't organize that far ahead of time - the school year doesn't even finish until the end of JUNE - ok?
check around end of May, June the job boards should have some then. |

I understand that this may be too far in advance, but there were jobs offered early last year. and another question. visa issues. if I'm just coming over for a month or six weeks, what do I need to do. Can I just have a tourist visa for that period, which is what I did in china last year? thanks for all help |

To be legal you will need to arrange for a C4 work visa. To teach at a camp it NOW has all the same requirements that an E2 does (degree, CRC, etc).

So then my question is, is this a realistic plan? I currently live and work in spain, and wanted to come to korea to check it out for a camp in the summer. Can I do it, will be able to get the visa, also, I won't be returing to the US before this time? thanks for your ideas |

I seriously doubt you saw any jobs posted for summer this early - they probably just included mentioning of summer camps as part of full time positions - but hey - don't take my word for it - it's not like I live and work here - unlike YOU
any job you work at w/o a legal visa you are liable for deportation, fines, etc. and the employer who allows or encourages such actions KNOWS they don't have to pay you - so you might want to consider that first |

C-4 visa requirements vary according to which consulate you're applying with (contact them about what they want well in advance) but are not as complex as the new E-2 requirements.
You will need to take in your original degree and probably a CRC though.
Camps do get raided by immigration so the visa is worth arranging. You can apply for one from any Korean consulate before you come. |

uh it's not up to the teacher to apply for the visa - the school has to be willing to sponsor you first |

Yes, you have to supply your contract, the camp schedule and some business registration documents of the company you will be working for to get the visa.
I didn't mean to imply otherwise. |
