Check out this map.

I wonder if voters' level of education is correlated to their likelihood to have voted for George W. Bush. I think you can guess where I'm going with this, although I'm always happy to be proved wrong.

I guess it's like when Bill O'Reilly came on the Daily Show and Jon Stewart pulled out some stats that claimed that his viewers were better educated than O'Reilly's.

I think you said that kind of backwards. Bill O'Reilly was claiming Jon Stewart's fans were "stoned slackers," when in fact most surveys showed his fans are far more politically aware than viewers of O'Reilly's show.

Is that a percentage of the total population (maybe including kids) or just of voting age?

Why you walking on glass about the issue ? To say that people that voted for bush are stupid is not a controversial statement . It's plain freaking obvious and true in every single sense . If you voted for Bush you may not like that...but the ugly truth is that you are stupid and you must learn to deal with it .

I suspect there is a relationship with this:

Please also bear in mind that there is a difference between population and legal citizens as well.

Maybe there's some correlation. Catholics are the new religious moderates.

Catholics > Lutherans > Baptists > Mormons (Latter-Day Saints)

Remember that the US population is NOT evenly spread across the entire US. A lot of that catholic area is actually uninhabited.

There is something fishy about that map. Look at western Minnesota. Up to 30% of the people dropped out of school in junior high?

I don't think so.

It seems to follow from your argument that there must be a majority of stupid people in America ...

There are also more millionares in America than any other country - so - there are a lot of stupid rich people ... interesting ...

The smart people who cannot or could not get elected are presided over by the stupid people ... interesting ....

The smart people are unable to fool the majority of stupid people even some of the time ... oh god ... this is a headspin

After the 2004 elections someone sent me a chart of the average IQ of each US state alongside who they voted for.

All the low IQ states voted for Bush, all the high IQ states voted for Kerry.

I'll have to track that chart down....

To be honest , when I heard Bush got elected again then I did strongly have the impression .

I don't follow . Are most americans millionaires ? That would be the only scenario for which your argument would counter my "vote for bush=stupid" argument .

Maybe because stupid people are in the majority and voted for the guy they could relate to , or couldn't even tell how stupid he was .

They are . Who do you think runs and decides American foriegn policy ? Bush ?

I'm not calling Americans stupid . But anyone who voted for bush I'm forced out of honesty to call stupid . I can not with a straight face pretend i don't think that is the case . If most americans voted for bush and then that makes it true that most americans are stupid...then so be it .Most people in the world are stupid . This is what you'd expect to find in any country .

Don't forget that people voting for Bush are more likely to be afraid of terrorist attacks. People in New York might be cozy knowing there is virtually no chance of terrorist attack, as New York has no symbolic targets worth protecting (and that's from the government), but in more high-profile places like Indiana or Montana or Washington (the state), there are dozens of high-profile potential targets, such as flea markets, petting zoos, popcorn stands, ice cream parlours, tackle shops, and other sites vital to the US infrastructure which could be smushed by a suicide-bomber attack or hijacked airplane at any second.

Doesn't Canada have more millionaires per capita than the US?

EDIT: Regardless of Canada and the US' rankings, Norway has the most.
