Cultural differences often surprise people and Korean's are no exception.
What ways can you think of to surprise a Korean person? ...
I'll start with one of my own...
Tell your Korean spouse it is okay to call his/her in-laws by their first name.

My cousin and her friend were surprised/shocked that people in America can kiss first before even dating. They both are conservative though, so I don't know how other women would react. |

2) Tell your korean spouse that you want to go to sleep with a timerless fan turned on high and all the windows closed tight. |

Sit on the doorstep of your villa on a Sunday morning with a big ceramic Kimchi pot, a big bowl of Chinese cabbages, some garlic, anchovies, salt, ginger and red peppers next to you. In between your legs have a big mixing bowl into which you mix your kimchi.
Stop making kimchi periodically to drink neat soju from a bottle whilst remarking out loud
"Ah the sky is so high this time of year and the wind is jealous of the flowers in spring!" |

That actually happened as I took a sip straight from my first bottle of soju here. The Korean I was with was shocked. |

The next time a Korean starts talking pedantically about jong, ask them if they can name all 12 types. |

I've taken all the SamGyeopSal strips and thrown them all on the grill at the same time. Then I cut them all into smaller pieces before they were completely cooked on both sides, threw in some garlic, mushrooms, and occasionally reached over to stir it a bit. When the whole stirfry mess looked done, I just turned off the grill. Everything cooked through and tasted the same, but the looks of horror were priceless. Plus, I didn't have the annoyance of cooking and eating at the same time. |

Tell them Korea actually isn't that cold. Really. It's as cold or colder where you're from. The response will be akin to--is that even possible? But it's too cold in Korea for foreigners! Their weak bodies can't handle it. |

I took my schnauzer into work the other day, and a K teacher screamed a bloody murderous shriek. My dog often causes Korean girls to either jump a mile high or fall in love with him.
