In 1951 Seoul was evacuated. I'm curious to know how large the evacuation was, because I suspect what we'll see tomorrow will be larger.
Last Chuseok, there were 2 million cars reported on the road. That amounts to probably well over 5 million people. |

The National War Museum in Samgachi / Itaewon, had photos & captions of the 1951 evacuation of Seoul. 5 million people left.
But expect this, from this afternoon:

| Thanks. I think then that means we're looking at a larger evacuation of the city tomorrow, just more organised. |

Some great / disturbing images of the Korean War, on this website:

Here at Hungnam (North Korea), some of the 98,000 civilians carried to South Korea, board ships for the journey. (Defense Department photo.) |

| Do you think it would be hard to use the subways to get into Seoul during the holidays? I'm curious because I want to spend some time walking around Seoul aimlessly. |

Nope, most people will be going the opposite direction. |

Are they hard to use? Well, the subways have pits full of spikes and red fuming nitric acid that only open during the holidays, but I think they only target folks from Eastern Canada.
Seriously though, I can't see it being a problem. I live an hour north of Seoul and took the subway into the capital every day during the Chuseok holiday without any difficulties. |

There might be reduced hours for the holiday...ie instead of the trains running till 11:30 they might stop earlier... |

I was wondering whether or not they'll be completely loaded with people, moreso than usual. |

Nobody is working. Everybody is visiting their family. The subway is pretty much empty over Chuseok and Seolnal. |
