|
|
Scenario:
It's October 1st, 2009. You've got two months to travel SE Asia and a few million won to do it on. After a year of working like a dog in Korea, you crave beaches and relaxation, and are ready for your own SE Asia beach tour extravaganza.
Where do you go? What are the must-dos? What does your schedule look like? |

October 2008? Never can start planning too early huh?
I'm actually going to backpack SE Asia for about 1.5 months next month when my contract ends. Are you only looking to go to nice tropical beaches and kick back, or want to throw in some sightseeing and some cities as well?
Tentatively, my plan is to go through Thailand for about a week or two ( I have been to Bangkok already), go into Laos for about a week and half, hit the famous Angkor Watt in Cambodia, head to the capital city, chill at a beach area in Cambodia that starts with S, and maybe end in Phuket.
Details aren't planned yet.
But if you want nice beaches, I would say go South through Thailand, into the nice Malaysian beaches, then you can hit Indonesia from Malaysia, and up North into Vietnam and the beaches in Vietnam. |

Yeah I'm a planner. The end of this contract can't come soon enough!
My tentative plan is to train it across China from Shanghai, head into north Vietnam, move south, hit Cambodia for Ankor What, smoke some special cigarettes in Laos, hit Bangkok then start moving south, like you said, through Malaysia and Indonesia.
I figure 7 countries ain't bad. By the end of the two months, I'll be one tan, mellow dude. Is there anything my plan is missing? |

There's nothing wrong with planning ahead. If your schedule allows it, I'd recommend stops in Chiang Mai, Penang, and Malacca. Return to Korea via Singapore. Spend a couple of days in Singapore shopping. You can buy a lot of good Western stuff there that you can't find here. It's a good way to brace yourself up for your next interval in Korea. |
