Another soldier for Ron Paul: 7 years active duty, now in reserves. Yes, the military IS for Ron Paul more than any other candidate:

The Ron Paul Revolution, the Libertarian message of nonintervention, free trade and peace is the one supported by the military more than any other. It is the only policy that has any logical foundation. It is the only policy that can end terrorism and bring peace to America and the world.

The system of intervention has been endorsed and employed by socialists of all stripes from kings to fascists to communists through the ages. It ALWAYS fails to bring peace and stability to the world. The nations that attempt to become or maintain themselves as empires through interventionism and military conquest ALWAYS fail. It keeps evil governments and dictators in power for a while, it secures the jobs of elected leaders in less than democratic states (sadly, that includes America today) for a term or two and, unless the policy is abandoned in time, it ALWAYS results in the collapse of the state that employs it.

If McCain is elected President, America will fall.

That is quite a statement. How will America fall, exactly? Will foreign forces be sacking the White House? Will green flags and crescent moons be hoisted up on every corner of America? Will we find ourselves bowing to the East five times a day? Will there be women walking around covered head to toe? Will there be 'virtue' police walking around flogging people and presenting public executions? All of this in America?

That has to be one of the most absurd statements. The operations in Iraq are costing not even barley 1% of GDP, there is no draft, or required service, the goal never has been to turn Iraq and Afghanistan into dependency states and America isn't an Empire.

America's total cost for maintaining over 700 bases in over 130 countries and the rest of its interventionism is in the neighborhood of $1 trillion per year. It creates enemies who attack Americans at home and abroad. It is undermining the value of the dollar. The US military cannot continue in this mission. It is overextended. The military cannot continue this unpopular illegal intervention without a draft and without massive new taxes and inflation.

Yet, McCain has indicated that he will continue the war in Iraq indefinitely and will expand to Iran. The cost of the empire is already dragging America down. The dollar is collapsing. It has no backing. We have to drastically cut spending, end the empire and focus on saving the dollar. McCain will take America in the direction of its destruction and we are already at the brink.

Yes. If McCain is elected president, he will continue in Iraq. He will expand the US overseas intervention. He will not cut government spending. He will not end the inflation. The dollar will collapse to zero. America, as we know it, will fall. The government will fall.

Then what ... sorry, that is not predictable.

Will we wake up, issue a new gold backed currency, abolish all taxes on income and property, and start anew as a land based on liberty and the constitution, a strengthend constitution that will truly limit the power and scope of the government?

OR

will the constitution be shredded under the guise of national emergency as totalitarianism falls across the land ... ?

The Great Depression was a cake walk compared to what is coming on the course of Bush/McCain...

When the dollar falls, the US falls, there will be a world wide depression. How will every country respond? Will any country respond quickly with a gold backed currency, limited government and freedom or will they all fall into dictatorship? Perhaps some US states could break away and follow the right course. Maybe we would have a few decades similar to the vision in "The Postman."

Of course, we can hope that McCain has been lying (or he suddenly wakes up to how stupid his own ideas really are) and he pulls out of the mideast, cuts government spending 50% ...

You should know that many conservatives are for repositioning our troops from Korea, and Japan to places like Guam, The North Mariana Islands, Hawaii or even Alaska. As far as Europe is concerned many conservatives would also like to reduce the massive military footprint there as well.

Which leaves the Middle East. The problem with Islamofacism is that it won't go away because we do. Governments preaching hate and inciting violence as legitimate actions against the West must be stopped. The islamofacists have proven their reach with the African embassy bombings as well as 9/11. They are threatening to attack again. I believe we have no other choice but to stay engaged in one form or another, whether it's military or diplomatic. Wahabbism and madrassas continue to be propped up and should we just leave they aren't going to shut down so we can then all join hands and sing Kumbaya.

Thanks for that great video! That soldier put his freedom on the line to give his first-hand account of his tour in Iraq.

You may have already seen this very heartfelt message another soldier put out to the same effect.

but...the worse the economy the more "volunteers" for the military. the more volunteers, the mission(s) can continue as long as the economic incentives for joining the military outweigh being broke and sleeping in mom's basement.
