Okay, so I'm getting the medical check done tomorrow. A few questions.

First: Can I just walk into the hospital off the street and expect to have it done or do I need to call and make an appointment?

I'm going in at around 10:00am and I start work at 2:30. Is this enough time?

What do I need (passport/ARC card I'm assuming)?

How long is the wait?

Thanks in advance.

Okay, thanks.

Does anyone else know how long this will take? What do I bring? Do I need to make an appointment?

Okay, just went to the local hospital and they had no idea what I was trying to accomplish so I gave up and left.

Does anyone know exactly what I should be doing? Come on, a hundred people must've had to do this by now. There should be threads on how to get the medical check done but there isn't.

*Bump* I really have to get this done this morning and I don't want to take a 40 minute trip to get there and find out that I needed a reservation, or that no one knows what I'm talking about, et cetera... Please respond to this.

Shouldn't your school be helping you with this?

Nope, my public school told me to go do it and call them when I got the visa.

You have to get it done at the hospital near Pyonchang Station.

However, it's not the main hospital ward, it's a little off-shoot clinic across the street. Across the street in the same building as a dental clinic.

Go up to the 5th floor and tell them what you want. They speak enough English there to understand what you need done. You need your arc, passport, and 2 wallet sized photos (you can have these done at a subway station). Fill out the forms and then go down to the first floor to pay your fee (about 80 or 90,000 won). Then go back up and take a urine and blood test, chest x-ray, hearing test, eye-test, blood pressure etc. Shouldn't take more than an hour.

Okay, thanks. I'm all finished. I didn't have the photos so I need to go back on Friday for some reason, but it seems to be done. Apparently I have normal-high blood pressure, awesome Shocked

I blame it on hagwon-induced stress.

I got my medical check done today. It consisted of a dental checkup, height, weight and blood pressure measure, chest X-ray, chest measurement, hearing and sight test and the collection of blood and urine samples. This all cost 60k won. I have to go back for the results in a week.

I'd be interested to know what would cause you to fail such a test for immigration purposes, other than the obvious. For example, might they demand that I pay to fix/yank the broken tooth that I have before I am pronounced medically fit?
