My s.o. and I are looking for jobs together in Changwon that start in August (that's when our lease is up), and it seems as though that would be impossible in a public school because they start in September. But what this recruiter told me makes it sound like the public school rarely ever hires couples.
"Especially since couples jobs [ living together and working together ] are generally harder to get anywhere in Korea.
The public school system works very differently to the private institutes/
hagwon system.
Public school hire via the education office and the main listings are only
twice a year march 1 and Sept 1 [ with some vacancies in between]
No public schools through the Gyeongsangnam provincial office which hires for Changwon have had 2 vacancies in them this year, and there are not likely to be any coming up for Sept."
I would really appreciate some feedback from you wonderful, wonderful people who have the experience. Are there any couples that have tips for finding couple's jobs maybe?
Endless gratitude!

To get a public school job that wants a couple means you need to be in or near a major metropolitan area. Most PS only have 1 foreigner, especially outside Seoul and Gyeonggi province.
Seoul and Gyeonggi POE are the 2 LARGEST offices of education in the country and between them represent more than 60% of the entire population in the country.
Wanting to work OUTSIDE of those 2 POEs makes finding a single school who needs 2 FTs virtually impossible (especially for an overseas hire).
IF you are lucky AND you tell whoever is placing you that you ARE MARRIED (proof not required) then they will try to put something together for you with at least shared housing (even though you will be at separate schools).
Work directly with EPIK (NIIED) or choose another location.

Just my humble opinion.
