Interesting in a morbid sort of way watching the run up to a possible war with Iran. It's not exactly a clear-cut issue, but I honestly wonder if GW will launch an attack this year or the incoming US president will do it next year. It'd be nice if the region could sort its shat out peacefully, but honestly that ain't gonna happen. Any thoughts on an attack? If yes, when?

The National Intelligence Estimate definitely pulled the rug out from under any plan for an imminent attack.

Other countries will have to be gung-ho and on board before it would be a politically viable option for any U.S. administration, IMO.

In recent times, when did Amerikkka care what other countries were on board? The run-up to this war has been predictable in the relentless neo-con plan to divide up all the mideast states along ethnic and religious lines. Iran just happens to be next on the list.

Just when it will happen is a good question, but it will happen, unless there is some popular mobilization against it, or Ron Paul becomes president because he will not go to war without a Congressional declaration.

I agree with caniff. Without some new major provocation, there ain't gonna be an attack on Iran this year or next.

Didn't EFL predict Bush would engineer a war with Iran and suspend the november elections?

Right, ever since 1953 when the CIA overthrew the democratically elected Mossadeq and installed the Shah.

Can you blame them?

What I wonder though, is if GW and Cheney would risk launching another war. I doubt it'd be a full scale invasion or anything, but still. Missile strikes, bombings, maybe some sabotage and seizing the Iranian side of the Strait of Hormuz.

Hopefully things can calm down a little and the Iranian elections will allow for some change.

Guess just to hedge my bets, I oughta be buying oil futures and stocks right about now.
