It is a little known fact that Canadians are black, but the lack of sunlight for 11 months of the year has made us somewhat pale, which in turn as distanced us, through the vagaries of melanin, from our southern brothers. Our contributions to Ebonics, however, shows our connection. For example, 'fo'shizzle ma nizzle,' common as it was for a period of time in the USA, first came into use in the less euphonious Canadian phrase, 'freezing my nipples.' |

This might go a long way in explaining the affinity of many Canadians for watermelon. |

I wonder if this means Canadians visiting the US will have to start sewing Confederate flags to their backpacks. |

I'm suspecting the news has been taken by an urban legend. |

That contents of that link seem to be from the mind of an adolescent. |

Quite common in Chicago, especially among bar and restaurant employees. |

I've only heard it used amongst waiters. |

I bartended at a convention hotel, and the bartenders and barbacks used it too. I was the only white bartender (two were Mexican, three black). The black guys usually used it to mean their "churchy" or "country" brethren, who didn't tip and accused us of being racist when we ran out of seating during an auto show. |
