I am in dire need of the help of someone better-versed in Korean than I or any of my acquaintances.

At TechnoMart today, I bought an AceLabs S5 mp3/video/DMB player. Brought it home, ready to use the USB interface to put some tunes on it, and my computer is incapable of understanding what it is. Okay, no problem, I think, and search for drivers.

No drivers.

http://www.acelabs.co.kr/ has an English option on their site, but because DMB is only available in Korea, they thoughtfully decided on the English site only to include info about the S3, which does not have the DMB feature.

I'm doing my best, but failing. Please... help?

That site is crap. I looked and downloaded nearly every file on the site to look inside the zip files, but they are all for AVI encoding and firmware.

Maybe the firmware upgrade is what you need?

Was there no driver CD with the unit?

Here is the firmware link:

AVI encoder upgrade:

http://www.acelabs.co.kr/bbs/zboard.php?id=bbs3&page=1&sn1=&divpage=1&sn=off&ss=on&sc=on&no=5

Can't see any drivers there at all.

The firmware can't be what I need... because I have to be able to connect to the device before I upgrade the firmware. Thanks for the effort, though. And no, there was no driver CD.

Google has also been unhelpful.

Very frustrating when you drop 120,000 won on something that you can't use... :S

Bring it back from where you bought it and bring your computer.

If they can't make it work, ask for your money back.

it shouldn't need drivers. Have you tried plugging it into a different USB port? How about rebooting the computer or trying a different computer.

And yeah there are some firmware upgrades on the site you should probably get once you get connected to your computer.

Failing that contact a/s and explain your problem to them (or get a Korean speaker to do that if you can't)

I managed to get around the problem (apparently it needs to be set to "usb file transfer" before being connected.. yeah, dumb me), though now I've got a new lovely problem, which is...

It won't turn on.

DAMN IT.

How late is TechnoMart open today, d'you think? I've a mind to go over there and get angry.
