Does anyone know the new GEPIK pay scale? I heard it went way up for new teachers. Is it true that the rest of us shouldn't re-sign because if we do then we don't get the new money?

I guess they were quite satisfied with their 2007 crowd.

Someone knows. Probably one of the "closet" recruiters on here knows.

Hard to tell what the discretionary increase in wages will be, but I was offered a contract at a local public school that was willing to offer me 2.7 - 2.9 mil plus all of the fringes. I have a decision to make because my current position has been good and scheduled to pay me a substantial increase this next year anyway based on my length of stay at the school, and other things I have helped them with.

It is likely that GEPIK is going to loosen the strings on what amount can be paid to qualified candidates, and I wouldn't be surprised to see the amount of rates increase somewhat with all of the recent and current activity taking place with the new Administration coming in.

I had heard from a recruiter that the GEPIK rates have been increased. I guess some who actually teach for GEPIK will be the last to know. It's a shame.

This is interesting to hear. Just out of curiouslity, has anybody renewing at his school received their new contract yet?

I ask because I have been trying for months to get my school moving on it. There was lots of drama but in the end we seemed to work it out. For the past two weeks, though, I have been pestering my coteacher about twice a week, and she told me the problem was that the GEPIK office "wasn't answering the phone" so the school could not get a new contract. HUH?

So I have been playing chicken with them, halfheartedly searching for a new job that I won't have to relocate to accept and hoping that they get it straightened out. Of course my visa expires in less than three weeks, and I am starting to get concerned. Should I be? Anybody else have the same problem?

Extra money would be great, but I am satisfied with my school... thus my tepid desire to stay.

Sparkling.

GEPIK pay scales have yet to officially rise...
They have a meeting after the New Years break with all recruiters etc to lay out the plan for 2008 March, May and August intakes.
Most of us are still in the dark as to what will be said...

I would guess they will stay the same (2.0MIL - 2.3MIL).
The reason being is that I have a feeling EPIK will eat up GEPIK gradually.
Word on the street is that EPIK are taking up to 30% of the GEPIK positions this year in August. Now that EPIK Head Office is in Central Seoul, there is no reason why EPIK cannot control the once GEPIK positions too.

That being said, things like policy and contracts would be more hesitant to change within GEPIK as that would mean more work for those involved and work that can be easily passed on to the next person..(EPIK) or consumed by EPIK policy.

Gepik is still having trouble filling all the jobs. I wont be surprised if they , GEPIK ,started the false rumor in hopes of getting more teachers
