question

Is there such thing as a dependent visa for a Girlfriend in Korea?

During my last trip to Thailand one of my friends got one IN THAIALND for his Philip Girl without a problem. It made me think maybe there is something like it here?

It would make my life much easier and less expensive then flying my girl out every three months waiting a month then flying her back in. Anyone have any experience here?

Sadly the spousal visa is the only option for us interacial couples. She could try the ferry to Japan, it's much cheaper and pretty fast considering the distance.

I am kind of confused. Did your friend get a VISA for his GF to go to Korea in Thailand? Filipinos can come to Thailand on their own tourist VISA's and get jobs while they are there.

Unfortunately there are only 3 ways that Filipina can get a VISA to Korea.

1. As your wife.
2. As a factory worker.
3. As a prostitute/"entertainer"

There's no such thing for Thailand as a "girlfriend visa." There is, however, Non Immigrant Visa-O. That's for:

There are a couple of other types listed on that site. The "etcetera" might be what people have used in the past to get an unmarried significant other into the country, using some blarney that the Consul bought.

When my coworker at a hagweon a couple of years ago brought his girlfriend over from Thailand for a 3-month visit, she got a tourist visa and then interviewed by Immigration at Incheon airport.

I think your only option is to send her home every three months Sad I am having same problem and it is either that or get married. I was at first thinking about going to Japan but researched and she will have to get a visa. Then the cost for two people spending the weekend in Japan is about the same as a roundtrip ticket to Thailand! That way she can see her family and restock on some Thai cooking supplies cheaply Razz

My Thai g/f is nearing the end of her 2nd 3 month Kor. visa.....(the first one she only used a week of, for a taste of Kor).

She has applied to dozens of jobs (strong experience/BA in marketing) but nothing has panned out.

She will go the student visa route for the upcoming year and study Korean. Not too bad actually, (4-6 thou USD per year)

I'm curious as to why the OP has his girl wait (1 month) between 3-mo stays(?) Is that a rule???

No it is not K-law BUT, from Experience I got two friends in interracial relationships with non-Koreans.

So....one friend moved to Thai a couple of months ago and he flew his girl in for 4 years however, he did the jump out jump back thing ONE TIME with his G/F and immigration flagged her and would not let her in made her fly out and she had to wait for 6mths to come back. They told her the only reason you (read Asian) would do a visa run like that from Korea is to work illegally or she was a prostitute period.

Needless to say buddy wasnt happy. He then flew her out for at least 1-3 months at a time and didnt have many issues after that. However, there was a few.

My second buddy did the same thing (visa run) and chick got banned for 2 years and well he simple left Korea then got married. He went home for a bit and now just moved to Thailand.

So anyways I am paranoid I want my girl with me but I dont want to risk trouble for her so I wait 1-2 months. So not law but my choice..sadly
