I heard through the grapevine that public school board is going to make it mandatory for all foreign teachers to work one Sunday a month at an English Village. Is this true?

Laughing i doubt they'd get away with this, but hell, they might try! if they offered an extra day of vacation per Sunday worked, then i'm sure many people wouldn't have a problem with it. but with the E2 regs and the supply of FTs going down (supposedly), i don't think they'd be able to do this without taking a bit of a hit in the FT population in public schools.

Not sure about the rumor, but I did hear wind of the fact that things went down hill rather quickly after they realized they had built a monster that would require way too much management and funding to keep it afloat without serious help.

There are two wonderful words in the English language that will prevent this from happening: "I quit."

I haven't heard anything about it and my contract specifies no weekends.

That would require another stool sample to be submitted, don't you think?

LOL.Personally I think the Korean Government should simply amputate a prospective ESL teacher's appendage (see Appendix A in the 'Application for Foreign Teacher of Englishee' to determine which limb), test it rigorously, and keep it on ice for the duration of the contract.

By the way, was watching Philadelphia the other day. Thought of an alternate ending: Tom Hanks abandons his problems in the States and applies to Korean law firms during his last days.

What kind of overtime pay? I'd do it for 100,000 per hour. Seriously. Double the normal rate for an extra class. Sunday equals double time.

Which public school board?

I think I see a bridge up ahead...particularly since the public school board does not have authority over hakwon teachers.
