So I've collected a small number of plastic and glass bottles over the past couple of weeks ready for recycling, but I don't know what do with them? I've read you should leave them out in a clear plastic bag but where do I get such bags. The local shops only sell 일반쓰레기 and 음식물쓰레기 bags. |

Is there no designated place for recyclables in your apartment complex or in the alleyway/streets nearby? The best thing to do might be to check with your neighbours.
Good luck with it. |

Yes, there should be some large dumpster bins and/or crates near your building where you dump all the trash you have sorted into 20 seperate damn bags.
Regarding the rubbish bags. What exactly am I allowed to put in them without causing the dumpster-guard to chase me down the street yelling because I've clearly broken the rules of what IS and ISN'T acceptable?! |

I think some dumpster-guard-ajosshis just shout at you whatever your do. In my apartment block last year I couldn't do anything right when it came to recycling. In my new officetel block I haven't put a foot wrong for 4 months now...
Yet I'm doing exactly the same thing...
Anyway, as for the rubbish bags...I've always chucked everything and anything in those. The recycling is taken away for free, so I'll seperate it right. The rubbish bags you pay for so pretty much anything can be rubbish, I think. Never been told off for putting something wrong in a rubbish bag... |

I had the same concerns when I moved out here. Think that you just need to figure it out for yourself really. Food waste aside, I always try and recycle everything I can, no matter how small it is. At my apartment complex the building manager has done a pretty good job with the recycling area and he has created a different section for pretty much every different type of plastic, glass, cardboard, aluminium etc, which means that I can recycle most of my waste.
If you don't live in apartment complex with a designated recycle area, then you'll probably have to leave your garbage at special drop-off points along the streets near your home. Obviously these places aren't really organised and are a bit of a free for all, but you should still try and keep things seperated.
Bascially, try and keep your plastics, tins/tinfoil, cardboard/paper, glass and food waste seperate. Everything else should go in your regular trash. |
