Question. If I want to extend my VISA with my current school, would I have to leave the country to do so? Going through all that crap...
Also, would it be the same if I changed schools?
And if anyone has heard anything about the criminal background check, whether or not stuff like *yawn*DUI*yawn* would keep you from getting a VISA.
Any help is greatly appreciated! |

I've heard from a reliable source that ANY so-called stain in your criminal record, will result in an E-2 refusal! Why even bother with staying in this xenophobic country??? Pack your bags ang go to Japan, Taiwan, or China. I moved to Taiwan from Korea and I love it. I should have done it years ago; friendlier people, warmer weather, beautiful beaches, and pay that is almost the same as in Korea. My advice: Go South, young man! |

IF you extend with your current employer you do NOT have to leave the country. You simply have to present the following documents.
1. Visa Extension Application
2. Passport and your Alien Registration Card
3. New contract
4. Sponsorship Certificate (from school)
5. A copy of Certificate of School / Business Registration (from school)
6. Processing Fee
7. New Criminal Record Certificate.
8. New Health Check Certificate
If you change employers AFTER the 10 month mark AND before your current visa expires you need the same documents as a renewal/extension.
If you change employers AFTER your current visa expires or BEFORE you have completed 10 months with your current employer you will have to make a visa run.
I cannot answer the question about your DUI. I have NO first hand knowledge of anyone who has tried to get/keep/extend/transfer a visa with a DUI AFTER the new rules came into effect. |

As of this Wednesday, no DUI has made it past the gatekeepers at Immigration. |

How do you know how many 100 manwon 'gifts' have been offerd to the gatekeepers? Cerberus is ever vigilant...unless you throw him a bone. |
