How long did the processing of the documents take? Did it take about the same amount of time or more?

LOL... With the new regulations, nobody can get a a new E-2 visa. The only posts on 'Dave's' are about being denied an E-2. Rolling Eyes

Here we go again with all this crazy talk. So far I have heard no one being denied a new VISA. They have made it more difficult to get a VISA but as I have said before I think most of these new regulations are a good thing (except for the interview). Where do you guys get this idea that people are being denied VISAs left and right. If you have all your documents expect it to be the same amount of time as it was before. That is assuming you don't have to do the interview but it seems like they have been more leanient on it and have been actually giving interviews over the phone in some cases. Best of luck to you. Surprised

Have you been paying attention? Nobody knows what the hell the immigration officers are going to enforce or not. Some are being told that they must go home and other immigration officials have been saying you can get all the documents in Korea. This is far from orderly. It all depends on the mood of the immigration official you are dealing with. How is that good? How can you wear those rose shaded glasses?

I think you misunderstood what I was trying to get at. I think it is good that they are doing these things like the CRC. I think many teachers here are unfairly stereotyped as being some kind of junky pedophile. I think these regulations will hopefully change that. I do agree that things are a little disorganized but I think this happens with most new laws that are put into effect at first. I can understand the frustration but when people get on this board and start saying that they are denying VISAs left and right it sends people into a panic. I pay a lot of attention to these boards and I haven't heard anybody so far being denied a VISA. I have heard of transcripts and some CRC's being denied but no VISAs. Plus people have already posted on this board of being honest with their new employer about having things like a criminal record and having no problem getting a VISA. I'm trying to make sure that people don't read this board and post and start panicking. Things are crazy and it does suck at times but I feel we all need to be a little optimistic and patient and realize that everything is not coming to an end. Things will be more time consuming but I do feel in the end this will benefit us all. Like I said before that hopefully this will make Koreans take us a little more seriously. Maybe I am being a little too optimistic but someone has to be on this board. Cool

Let's all be patient and optimistic, the government will solve things eventually.

Let's all be patient and optimistic, Stalin will feed us some day.

You can't be serious. Any protectionistic regulation necessarily leads to market distortions that hamper the intended trade of the parties involved. It's bad for teachers and it's bad for schools.

Things would be better if they actually enforced these things on Koreans instead of just those on E-2 visas. Things would be better if we could actually get a straight answer from immigration without getting the run around. I'm only about the 4000th person to say it on this forum.

First one: Immigration did not deny the visa, they rejected the background check because it was allegedly not properly apostilled. OP has submitted another background check and is waiting to see whether this one will be accepted.

Second one: the EMPLOYER, not Immigration, reneged on a job offer after having seen the person's arrest record.

So... there's two threads that are NOT about Immigration denying visas. Care to try again?

You're being pedantic. If it wasn't for the new, E-2 regs. both those people would have been issued visas.

I don't see anyone who HAS been issued a new E-2 visa replying to this thread.

Please tell me that you were being ironic when you wrote this?

Yes and this is why most countries normally allow 6 months to year before legislation takes effect not at a months notice and especially when the laws and regulations of eight other countries need to be properly taken into account first.
