I'm looking to move to korea at the end of the year/beginning of next year. I'd like to move over there either in November, or after the new year.
Given the new visa process, when should I start applying for jobs? How long does it usually take to get everything done? |

IF you have all your documents in hand the process takes 12-21 days.
The problems and delays come about in GETTING your documents in hand. Do your running around, get everything done and in hand and then start your search.
Until you have everything in hand, applying for a job is moot at best.
Nothing can be done until you have everything and even a signed contract is meaningless until you are actually able to apply for a visa.
Once you have everything the process happens VERY QUICKLY often less than a month from job application to stepping off the plane at Incheon.

Trust Tom, he knows what he is talking about, you won't get more accurate information from anybody else. |

TP seems dead-on. You should be issued a visa or rejected within 3 weeks at most. The new visa process only changes the process for getting your documents ready, and for getting your visa, once you have your visa issuance number. The only new addition, once you have your issuance number, is that you may be required to have a face-to-face interview with an employee at the consulate...Depending on what country you live in, and further what consulate-district you are in, you probably will have to do a face-to-face, so then it just depends on when you can schedule to have the 3-10 minute interview.
For early November, I might start applying in early/mid September (if you are applying through recruiters), or mid/late September, if you have more than a handful of schools that you know will need positions filled for Nov. (and can apply directly) |
