I have 5 interviews this weekend. My contract's up a week from Friday and I'll be starting at one of these 5 schools the following Monday. I live in the country and I'll be heading to Seoul Friday night. I have my letter of release, etc. and all I need from one of these schools is the signed contract, the business registration, and the sponsorship form. I have to take these documents back to immigration in my town to do the transfer of employers/sojourn.
Obviously time is limited and it seems I would have to get signed contracts from at least two or three of them. Such a thing would be decided after the interviews. Let's say that I think the first school is ok, but the next school is even better. I'd probably sign with the first school and then the second. Then if the third one is even better than the first two, I'd sign with them. You get the picture. Let's just pretend that the next 2 are duds.
There I'll be on my way back to the country with three signed contracts.
Should I or shouldn't I do this? Seems like I have no choice. I'd have to call the schools I decide not to sign with right away and tell them some sob story, of course.
Hmm. |

If you tell them you have 3 interviews in the one day, they may up their offers and start a bidding war. Times are desperate. |

Pick the crappiest offer, that way you know you could have done better instead of wondering if you could have done better. |

Yeah, I thought of that. I'll probably up the ante and tell them that I'll make my decision later in the day or early the next day. But they'll probably come back with "We have another person waiting" deal. I could just call their bluff though. After all, what do I care? |

Nah. Once it's done, it's done. I don't do the "what if?" thing. I do have a sense of humor though. |

I wonder if the average Kim-the hogwon owner is smart enough to realise that the "times are desperate"??
I still see ads, which state -2.1 mil , 9 am-7pm, must have 1 year exp, must be pretty female teacher, and must work 4 Saturday a year.
i often think that we ; the teachers ,give too much credit to the average hogwon owner
I had this one friend who just finished a contract with an SLP .It was his first year in korea , he didnt know any better.During the year , he was always getting ripped off and as a result , he was always fighting with the owner. At the end of the contract , the boss said to him ,why dont you stay another year.My friend had no intension of staying with this man , however my friend was currious as to what the school was going to offer him. After doing the math , my friend realised, the school was trying to give my friend a decrease in pay |
