I think someone long time ago wondered if tonic water was available in Korea. Lottemart sells it. You'll find it in with the hard booze.

It seems to be one of those things that is becoming more and more readily available in the ROK as time passes. It seems as if every big supermarket now has a foriegn booze section, complete with a large variety of wines, even decent rum at some.
The last time I was at HomePlus stocking up on commander vodka (6000won )and tonic water, I noticed that there's even a Korean brand tonic water for sale now. It's naturally (not sure if that's the right word) infused with lemon flavor. I was gonna try some, but it happend to be a little more expensive than the usual stuff. |

My small town grocer has a nice selection of jins and vodkas along w/ mixers as there are many Eastern European folk living here...but I stay away from it... |

They're getting creative with mustard these days (at LotteMart):
I had to take a quick photo, lest I get yelled at.
Also you can get some straight up horseradish sauce (much like the horsey sauce you get at Arby's):

With regards to the tonic water: I found it easily in small-town Korea in the local supermarket (not one of them fancy chains, more like a king-sized mom&pop store (which has since been turned into a funeral home)) in early 2004. At the time there was no sliced ham, no non-square-processed cheese, no wine except for Jinro or that other brand I forget the name of - but which is Korean with a foreign sounding name - or any kind of foreign food more exotic than corn pizza or jajjang-myeon (I know it's from Incheon, I'm just kidding..) in the town. I don't think tonic water has been an exciting product to find for a long time now..
Your mustards look interesting though.
PS (The town I lived in then got developed and got a Hanaro-martuh!! Now it has a Homeplus. You can get ANYTHING now.) |

Costco recently started selling cases of Canada Dry Ginger Ale and Dad's Cream Soda. I know a lot of people who love using the ginger ale as a mixer, not sure about the Cream Soda, but thought I'd mention it! |

Tonic Water's been in Korea for quite a while. I found it in Bucheon in November 2001. Went great with the W5000 Juniper Gin. |

you can make that horseradish sauce by just mixing straight horseradish with sour cream... getting sour cream in less than a 2 liter container can be difficult though. We need sour cream in pints or half pints here. Anyone know where to find that? |

When I am out drinking with friends, I always go with a club soda from Canada Dry. I don't need the sugar in cola, and I am not someone who likes alcohol. |

Dunno how it would work for horseradish sauce, but I use Denmark brand plain yogurt in place of sour cream for dips, on burritos, etc. |

bassexpander: Where do you get club soda? I haven't been able to find it anywhere. None of the bars I go to have it, either. |

Besides Costco, anyone ever find hotdog buns for sale anywhere?
BTW, you can buy Sucrets at the little newspaper store at the Westin Chonsun hotel.
