Another poster brought up a question that was interesting but I don't think it was the direction the thread was intended to go.
Will immigration deny a visa based on noncommunicable medical problems such as high blood pressure or color blindness? If not will the employer have access to medical exam results via the recruiter, immigration, etc.? And could they potentially deny an applicant based on those results?
It would be pretty bad for someone that is color blind to go through the hiring process only to be fired after arriving in Korea because the employer noticed they are color blind and didn't think it would be good for business. |

Tbh i really don't know, however from a logical point of view, if it doesn't bother immigration i can't see why an employer would terminate after your arrival since there is 1. a lot of time and money (recruiter) in getting you there and 2. shortage of teachers?
seems highly unlikely to me, but depends where you are and where you work (public or hagwon, etc) I suppose...
the last medical i had, it was blood and urine test(HEP,HIV,DRUGS), blood pressure, chest x-ray(TB) and weight, never performed an eye exam... as far as i can remember... they told me i sightly was over weight on my BMI and that was it.
That was back in may/june so things may have changed since... |

Any immigration person can deny a visa for any reason if they dont want you in their country, be it medical, financial, moral, etc. You are at their whim and discretion.
If its a medical issue, they are thinkingis this person going to be a burden on our health care system?
Dont volunteer any infobe very vague when filling out the medical statement and let the doctor decide what to write down on his report. |
