What's the word about these pee-on-a-stick kits?

It's for a friend... really.

She says that hospital tests are pricey, but at-home tests are unavailable here in Korea. So, what's the story?

They're available in Korea. Just go to any pharmacy/drugstore and ask for an "imshin kumsa" ӽ ˻

Two lines is pregnant, one is not.

Good luck! Smile

Oh, it has to be done with the first pee in the morning, bot sure why it makes a difference, but it does.

The reason why it is recommended to take the test during a female's first urination of the day is because the test kit is looking for the hormone hCG. It is a hormone created by the placenta post fertilization. Because the test kit is not uber-sensitive to this hormone it is better to urinate on it before the female's urine becomes diluted (which is caused by consuming liquids and urinating in general)...and this time is usually the morning before either of those two acts take place.

I do believe, however, that if a female were to wait several hours (while not urinating or consuming liquids) before taking the test everything would be kosher...then again, I am no doctor of medicine...nor would I want to chance.

Better safe than sorry.

Be sure that you friend takes the test long enough after "the act" to ensure that high enough concentrations of this hormone will be prevalent. How long? Not sure...google it though.

Good luck on getting the answer she hopes for...

I took the test after my period was late in the afternoon and it worked. The tests cost about 5000 won each so your friend may as well buy two just in case the first test doesn't work out. (The first test that I took didn't work.) Very Happy

most of the tests won't give you a positive result until after your period is already late, about two weeks after ovulation. there are many different kinds here, all around 4000-5000 won.

My wife and I had this problem. Two weeks late and the piss on a stick test is fine. Like 99% fine.

I was 5 days late and peed on the stick that cost 5000won. Said I was pregnant, we went to Doctor, he did ultrasound that afternoon, hello zygote! I'm 29 weeks pregnant now, I peed one time on one stick.
Friend was 3 weeks late, peed on stick, said not pregnant, went to doctor to confirm, yup, not pregnant, just late due to stress.
Worked great I say!
