I recall reading a few threads a while back about some Canadian posters applying for jobs at the embassy in Seoul.
They mentioned having to take some sort of test to do so.
If anyone remembers these threads or has some infomation on this topic I would greatly appreciate it.

I'd suggest you swing by the embassy and talk to someone there about it. I was under the impression that these employment matters were done in Ottawa under a central system. I could be wrong.
FYI, without fluency in French or Korean, employment will be difficult to get (but not impossible). |

I have several acquaintances here in Singapore who work for the Canuck embassy. It is a good gig with lots of perks.
If you are considering a career in the "industry", you need to take this exam:

I don't know your age, but one of the benefits of the foreign service is that they do not take age into account. It is possible to gain employment in your late 20's to late 40's.
Experience in a foreign country will help you find employment with the foreign service. It will also benefit you with CSIS and the RCMP. Both are excellent jobs (as I'm sure you know). |

Awesome, thanks again.
One of my profs in university told me once that before even considering applying for a job with CSIS you should at least live overseas for a time and pick up as many foreign languages as possible.
I guess I'm going to have to muster up with my 한국말

I spoke to a CSIS rep at my uni, he said all you needed to worry about having a valid license, a willingness to learn French, no record, and a desire to move every two years.
They seemed in need of recruits.
I am thinking of embassy work too. |

I assume you asked many years ago, right? I believe that RCMP experience was needed until around the middle of the 90's. |
