For the subject access form, can I send 10 pounds to the police in cash, I don't have any U.K. cheque books in Korea.

I doubt it fromtheuk, unfortunately.

By law these checks have to be done in a maximum of 40 days. The cost of one of these types of checks varies from Police Force Area to Area, but is usually around 10.

The fee needs to be paid in sterling so if you do not have an English bank account you would need to ask a friend or relative to pay the fee for you. They would need to send in a cheque with your details to the relevant police force so that the form and the fee can be matched. If you do not have a relative or friend in the UK then you can ask your local bank about an International Money Order (there will probably be a fee) but do not send cash.

Hope this helps.

I've just phoned my local police.

1) You can send 10 pounds in cash! Honestly!

2) It's ok for the 2 copies of my original documents to be countersigned by people of standing here in Korea e.g. Teacher, Police Officer etc.

Job done!

When they spoke with you they didn't ask you where you'd been. All those unpaid parking tickets, chav genocides etc. "Thanks Officer, I gotta run"

I'm from Nottingham, payment methods vary from region to region. Online I've seen Suffolk Police don't accept cash, but good old Nottingham does!

Yeah each county has different requirements. Mine accepted mere photocopies of my original documents. Other counties need them to be notarised copies.

The inconsistency amazes me!

I know I am probably stating the obvious now but make sure you send it by recorded delivery...

When bank notes get sent through the post the shiny strip reflects the scanner in the sorting machine so it will go into the wrong pile. An honest posty will just put it in the correct pile but a dishonest **** will assume it contains money and pinch it. Very annoying.
At least if it is recorded delivery to a police address it will be safer.

Good luck with it

I'm sending it from Korea straight to the Police in Nottingham.

I've never used the post office before in Korea. I assume they'd have some form of recorded delivery here in Korea. Right?!!!

Or I could try and find a DHL or something.

They do have recorded delivery. I sent my original degree certificate home from a Korean post office. I think it is called EMS (express mail service or something like that) the man spoke English and from what I can remember it was not very expensive. I think it took about a week to arrive.

Thanks from me too, everyone!

I've been agonising over that myself, as I don't even have a UK bank account anymore, never mind a damn cheque book.
