Can anybody help out here?
My 'significant other' and I have been wanting to get married for some time now. To make a long story short, I have an E-2 visa and she (a Philippine citizen) is now here in Korea on a C-3 visa. I've done some net searches and asked around but have gotten little information on how two foreigners can get married here.
Of course, when the marriage is accomplished, the F-3 visa will be the next step (and we have several helpful posts on that topic already).
Appreciate all the help! |

easy go to your consulate get the paperwork thats required. Then head down to hers fill out their stuff, file it there then back to your consulate to turn her stuff in.
BOOM your done
next go to immigrations with your new paperwork and she will have a ARC and visa in umm 2weeks.
OH, a lot of Philippine girls have fines in korea. But, no problems just pay them and she is fine.
Good luck mate! everything can be done in a day or two |

I read an article on the net a while back (haven't been able to find it lately) that it's all a 'local' thing, except for the documents that need to come from the embassies. |

Only local if you marry a Korean
or if you want a wedding and such thats all done locally.
But, the legal stuff .........yep embassy.
My boy just finished with is Piony girl. she has a visa but SHE doesn't think they are married cuz they haven't don't the catholic wedding yet
guess where he is going for vacation and guess what he is doing.
Paperwor is same same for my Thai girl as well. Except for YOU everything is in English
pretty painless process
Then the hard part starts getting immigration paperwork started and PAID for your country.
For us Americans it's a 2yr process costing close to 4Kusd when all said and done. |

Actually the paperwork is very extensive as not only are you marrying your Filipina wife you are also marrying 6 Uncles, 7 Aunts, 8 Grandparents, and 32 Cousins, all of whom will require your financial assistance. |

"Actually the paperwork is very extensive." I didn't really find that to be the case. lots of paperwork but nothing hard
However...........everything else is SPOT ON lol
That seems to be the case for ALL SE Asian girls......As we all do send money to "mom" every month if one wants to remain married. |

Makes one "almost" think they were marrying for money / escape, and not for love. I guess if you go for that sort of stuff |

There is one step that needs to be done apart from the embassies. You need to go to the local gu office and sign some stuff there and get your certificate stamped. My wife and I, both Canadians, had to do this. We also ran into a couple Americans who were doing the same thing.
There should be a gu office close to the embassies. The Canadian Embassy had a map. |

True "almost"
Unless they already have as much or more than you do and the locals do the same thing as you for Thailand Thai cat kick down money to mom as well. Life is just different in Asia money and love is mixed period so even "Token" money is expected. You only feel like an ATM until you hit a snag and the WHOLE family comes to your rescue cuz it's thier duty too. |
