My family visited recently, and had a really great time.
Here's a pic of my dad on the subway. We thought it was hilarious how squeezed the Koreans looked in this photo, so I had to take a pic! Dad weighs over 300 pounds.

Oh, it was a hoot.
The Koreans treated my family really great. So many people tried to talk to them. I don't think they see many "older" foreigners above the age of 60. The lady on the right ended up leaving for another seat, and was bowing and laughing the whole time she left. Practically the whole subway car that could see was laughing, too. |

If this picture was on Flickr, I'd have added it to my favorites.
Hilarious. |

That's so funny!! Glad the Koreans' reactions were so pleasant.
What was your parent's favorite thing you did with them in the city?? |

Your dad's expression mixed with Koreans' expressions is really great. Nice pic. |

Hmm... the Insadong area was their favorite (shopping), but they enjoyed the Noriyangjin fish market a lot. My dad really liked soju (although he just had a few shots)! We're bringing him a bottle when we head home. We saw Seoul Tower, Kyungbukgung (King's palace), did the DMZ tour, they did a Seoul bus tour, went to COEX, Itaewon, Korean war memorial, Myongdong, and many other places.
They didn't care for Korean food, and weren't very adventurous with eating. They were really impressed with the transportation in Seoul, and how cheap the taxis are. They all enjoyed the lights around Myongdong, and wondered how long it would be before they took down the Christmas lights.
They stayed at the Metro hotel, and really enjoyed their stay and the staff. |

I have just returned home after a 6 week visit with my son & family in Incheon. I can remember being in exactly the same position as your father on the subway as well.
I had a great time, love the food, got stuck into the soju on a few occasions and suffered the watery beer.
Travelled a bit... a few days in Soraksan, Daegu and visited Busan.
That was my second holiday in Korea and I am already looking forward to the next. Bring it on! |

I've heard very few complaints from people who are a bit older and visit here (the post about the War Memorial being the only one). |
