|
|
fails their criminal record check and, or medical test? Has anyone heard what the consequences would be? They don't need a school to sponser their visa, as their family sponsers them, so would they have it revoked, face deportation, etc...
I would like to know the answer to this as I drive many kms a day, and based on one poster being denied an E visa due to a car acident, would this also apply to me (an F visa holder). |

As an F series visa holder you are not under the guidelines that apply to the E2 applicants. If your school asks for a CRC or medical check it would be up to them to decide whether or not they want to hire you in the first place. The F visas are resident visas allowing you the freedom to stay in the country and secure other forms of employment if you want. If you want to continue to teach then you will have to find an employer that is willing to hire you. I know as an F2-1 soon to be F5 I will simply get a Korean CRC since I have lived here for 4 years now. I had no criminal record when I arrived 4 years ago, already verified. My F5 is supposed to include a thorough CRC that will put all of this nonsense to an end once I am allowed to live here permanently.
It is not likely that you will be deported from the country, but you may have some explaining to do if you have an accident. BTW, unless you are charged with a criminal offense during an accident, it is not considered a crime. Someone is pulling the OPs chain and lying to them. If you have not been arrested for a crime, then there is no way that it is considered a criminal offense. |

thanks tob55, for responding to my question. It puts my mind at ease, as I truly love my life here and now that we have a son, I want to stay here for the next 15 or so years. On a side note, what are the requirements for the F-5 visa?
All the best,

You must have your F2-1 for at least 2 years and show proof of financial stability through 30,000,000 KRW in some form. (Bank account, Apartment, Employment Contract, etc.) You can fill out the forms at your local immigration office. The fee is 60,000 KRW and the time to get it done can take up to three months. (That is what it is in Uijonbu (sp).)

Is this a new requirement for an F5? |

Not sure, but it is something they said would happen when I applied, so your guess is as good as mine. I was told that the CRC takes place through Korean Law Enforcement rather than out of country. They are mainly interested whether or not I have broken any Korean laws during my stay here. That is what I was told. |

I'm curious too. I just applied for my F5 two weeks ago. They never mentioned a CRC, but who knows what they are doing. Did you have to submit a CRC when you got your F2 visa? |

Nope,
No CRC was requested for the F2, and they said it was part of the process when they worked on my F5 application. So it is no expense to me, and I am not the least bit worried about it anyway. |

Guess they are checking me out too then. I don't have a record here of back home so I'm not worried. Just hope it doesn't take too long for them to process everything. |

An F-5 requires a detailed CRC + family background check as well.
If you have a sketchy background on an F-2, you may be refused an F-5 visa. I've seen it happen.

So it's automatic, with an F5 already they've already done it? Sweet. |

Let's put it this way,
If you had a hard time getting your F2-1 for reasons like you are citing to be concerned, then you will probably have the same issues to deal with for the F5. However, if you got your F2-1 and stayed free of criminal activity, i.e. arrests or offenses, then you will likely get your F5 with little difficulty. It all depends on the immigration office and what they decide. |

They just do it themselves. They have all your info. They just check you in Korea to see if you've been a good boy/girl since you've been here. |
