So I just talked with my coworker about how I dont like to eat ramen noodles because of the MSG in them. He told me that in Korean Ramen noodles there is none. I find this hard to believe but is it true?

This is a link to Nong Shim Shin Ramyun. It lists MSG as an ingredient.

Yes. There are MSG-free products being made these days. Just look for the MSG-free seal on packaging, usually 'MSG' with some Chinese characters next to them. Although ramyun is basically a filler, it does come in the more healthy variety which I prefer. My favorite brand is in the white/red packaging, labeled '마싯는라면'. It's pretty good and basically the same price.

rhetorical? back in cub scouts we used to mix flour and water to make paste. in asia they mix flour and water, put it in colorful packages and call it food.

if there isn't much nutrition, not much nourishment why do we foist such concoctions on kids when they are hungry?

the only food available at my school is ramen. and they buy pepsi as well. hmm...why do hyper students crash halfway thru class while the majority are lethargic?

Are you sure that's not "맛있는" instead?

Yes, MSG is a big component... as is salt. Theree are a couple of 'well bing' brands that claim not to have any MSG... but they don't taste very good.

So, yeah- your coworker is seeing the world with taegukki-colored glasses..

That umami taste is the meaty like flavor you can't do with regular spices.
