Daewoo Damas, 2005, shiny blue with flashy wheels...

This was bought new by us, and has been well-cared for. We've washed it at least once/week, and we have receipts for maintenance and service.

- LPG (currently costs about 28,000 won to fill up, and that will take you 300 - 350 km)
- This little guy gets 50% off at the toll booths
- 88,900 km, runs better now than new
- Brand new radiator and battery
- Yokohama tires, new last summer
- Flashy wheels
- A/C
- CD player
- Seats 5 with lots of extra room for stuff
- Back seat folds down
- Fabulous camping car! Fits one of those fold-up foam coach beds perfectly.
- Super easy to park!

Our Korean friend/car-man extraordinaire is in Daegu, and he will handle all the transfer of sale stuff for us. We would like to take care of everything asap before we leave (March 1st), but if it doesn't happen by then, you can trek to Daegu to buy it and happily drive away!

It's hard to give this baby up, but unfortunately they won't let us drive it in Canada. We're asking 4,500,000 won, but will consider offers.

Thank you for your interest!

Unless you get into a frontal. No crash protection at all there, or am I wrong?

Really? Care to elaborate? A couple of us had half-serious plans to take a couple of these back with us...

different safety standards. IIRC mini's couldn't be brought in stateside for years.

After a bunch of research, it became apparent that the Damas can't go to Canada, and not just for safety reasons. It seems that any car that was not specifically made for the North American market can't be imported and driven in Canada, unless it was manufactured 15+ years ago. Not sure on all the details, but I remember reading that "younger" cars can't even be altered to meet safety standards. They simply don't qualify.

The only thing is that temporary residents can bring a car with them to Canada, but have to take it back out with them when they leave and their visa expires. But that only works for people on student visas and stuff like that.

Surprisingly, there are lots of reasons.

Bumper/crash specifications are different. Even things like wheel bearings are different.

When Hyundai and Kia came to the USA, I remember hearing at least one of those manufacturers (probably both) had a terrible track record of the wheel bearings going out early. Why? Because Koreans had never built a smaller car that had to stand up to so much longer-distanced highway driving day in and day out.

In their first 5 years or so, Korean cars had a horrible reputation. So much so that the manufacturers tried to ease public concerns by selling them with 5 year bumper-to-bumper warranties.

Just a reminder that we're willing to consider offers for this cool little vehicle with LOTS of space inside.

This car is a heap of fun to toodle around in, and the adjossis drool at it at the rest stops.

We can send more pictures if you'd like.
