i'm trying to make kalbi in the states.

i was thinking samjang (the mild red sauce you spread on the lettuce) is just dwenjang paste mixed with gochujang, chopped garlic/ green onions and a touch of sesame oil; however, it doesn't taste right and it is a darker red color.

any suggestions?
