According to some rumors circulating it looks like you can get visas in Korea now. Can anyone confirm this? |

Yes, it's true...
4) Anyone who is already in Korea with E-1, E-2, E-3 and anyone whose degree or transcript has been verified by Korea Academic Verification Agency (KAVA: recognised by Korean immigration authority) can extend or renew his/her visa without leaving the country and without an interview.

Does anyone know how you get your degree/transcript verified by KAVA? |

How long is that taking, may I ask? I have to go there next week. I was thinking of taking off Thursday, coming back Sunday. Is it too short? Too long? |

Hey, you have been here long enough to know that what the requirements are pretty much boils down to what the immigration officer working the desk feels is tha law on any given day. |

I arrived on sunday and had my visa number issued today (wednesday) which was the earliest it could be apparently. Im picking it up tomorrow. Mine only took so long because they refused to start the process until id left the country and i was changing my work place. If your applying for your E2 visa first time then 2 days is enough (or at least it was for me in August ) |

Yeah, but I'm doing the same thing next week, HOWEVER, one immi official gave my new school the wrong information about transferring and told them that I'd need my transcript. I told the school that someone was wrong and they called me back to confirm that I was right. Thing is, I'll be doing the transfer with my local immi office in the country rather than dealing with one in Seoul (where I'm moving to). Makes it a lot easier. Just in a small town here where immi knows who everyone is. Simple process. |
